Watercolour is a wonderful, exciting medium. Merv Richardson likes to express architectural and landscape subjects in a manner which stretches a representational viewpoint by means of a spontaneous, intuitive approach to his work.
The day will begin with an introductory talk on the making of and methods used in painting in watercolour. This will be followed by a step-by-step demonstration. There will be time for you to paint, with individual help and critique from Merv. We will explore several techniques used to achieve the goals of the workshop. These include working wet in wet (how to control shapes on a slippery surface); building a finished painting upon a splattered abstract background; and using a slick method to paint trees, working with negative shapes.
Participants in the workshop should have some knowledge of painting with watercolours.
Cost: OAG members: $50 Non-members: $70. Non-members may join the OAG at the workshop.
