August 24 - Watercolour - The Agony and Ecstasy II

Come and learn from an accomplished painter of landscapes and townscapes in watercolour.

Douglas Brown is a strong believer that painting should be fun, and that greater skills and success go together to provide more enjoyment when you are painting. This is a great chance to add to the fun of painting.

This workshop is particularly directed to creating atmosphere, especially fog and rain, and how to use light to show the time of the day in your paintings. Learn how to avoid the ordinary and add character and impact to your paintings.

The day will begin with a brief introductory talk on the making of and methods used in watercolour paintings. There will be demonstrations of creating atmosphere and of using light to indicate the time of day. You will have an opportunity to put this into practice between and after the demonstrations. The day will be primarily directed to time to paint and practice what was in the demonstrations with individual help and critique from Doug.

Participants may bring in a painting for a critique if time permits and should have some knowledge of painting with watercolours.
