October 1 - Fiddler on the Roof

The reviews of Fiddler on the Roof have been glowing.

Join Dufferin Arts Council’s bus excursion to the Stratford Festival on Tuesday, October 1, 2013.

With some of the most memorable melodies in the musical theatre canon, Fiddler (Fiddler on the Roof) has been celebrated for decades for its moving score and profoundly affecting story. It centres on Tevye, a milkman who lives in the small Russian village of Anatevka with his wife, Golde, and five daughters. As his daughters grow up quickly (Sunrise, Sunset), as they long for good husbands (Matchmaker), as the three eldest marry further and further outside the parameters of Jewish cultural life (Tradition), Tevye struggles to balance his sensibilities with those of the changing world (If I Were a Rich Man) – a world which soon poses a threat not just to him but to his entire village (Anatevka).

The bus leaves from Superburger in Primrose at 9 am followed by a stop at Home Hardware in Orangeville at 9:30 am, returning about 5 pm.

The cost is $115 including orchestra tickets to the musical. Call or e-mail Pat Vipond (519-941-5655 or gpvip@bell.net) or Joyce Kolodny (519-941-1516 or jkolodny@hotmail.com) to reserve a place on the bus.
