Although from very different historical and social origins, both folk art and modernism have played a major role with collectors and the public in the twentieth century. What, if anything, does this tell us about art and collecting in tumultuous times? Join John Fleming for this very enlightening illustrated talk on folk art and modernism. 
 
John Fleming is Professor Emeritus in the Department of French and the Centre for Comparative Literature at the University of Toronto. He is co-author, with Michael Rowan, of Folk Furniture of Canada’s Doukhobors, Hutterites, Mennonites and Ukranians
